About Me

My photo
I am a family, portrait, wedding and lifestyle photographer. The process of making people comfortable with the camera is just as much of a passion for me as is capturing the moment. It is important to me to make the photo session experience a memorable one as well. I know it's a generic statement but I am passionate about life and the urgency to document the moments as they unfold. Take time to invest in the days of your lives. Call me--I can help! I've created a "book of days" gallery on my website: www.mbgpics.com where I do that for my own life. Hopefully it showcases who I am as a person as well as as a photographer.

rocco and the family

rocco was the star of this family's session--no doubt. he sat so confidently as i snapped portraits and even seemed to enjoy the process. but i must admit that several other important factors played a role in the success of our session together: 1. that this family is just gorgeous 2. the light was unbelievable and 3. the session was held for a wonderful cause.

i absolutely adore taking the time to get the know the families i am photographing. i enjoy walking with them to find just the right light and i enjoy watching them smile as i capture a few moments in their lives. history in the making. magical.

this family bid and won this session in a silent auction for my favorite family. http://inthepaintingofchaos.blogspot.com/2009/01/inspirational-saturday.html

michelle and kevin

some blog posts just don't need a lot of words. this is one of them. these two are so in love and they couldn't hide it from the camera. i love that kevin wears his wedding ring months before the wedding just to prove his commitment. and they way these two look at each other is just priceless.

they were up for anything including shooting at red rocks in wind, rain and cold weather. and they were cool with walking around and getting tons of poses in different locations. we even met a few weeks later to take some more pics. they never complained. all i had to do was feed them fried green tomatoes, fried pickles and an order of nachos (sans the sour cream for kevin) from merle's restaurant in downtown littleton and we were all good.

i honestly can't wait for your wedding in july! you two are just so fun to be around!

cheers!

a little R and R

lately i have spent a lot of time doing professional photography sessions: weddings, babies, toddlers, families. this translates to LOTS of time on the computer editing--which i do enjoy as well as lots of time shooting which i, of course, also enjoy. i've done so much work that i have fallen behind in blogging--which i also really enjoy.

because i am not sure who is reading this blog (aside from you lavender luz) i will just put some links to my recent work. that way i am not over blogging or clogging up the blog sphere with too many images. and at the same time i am making sure those of you who are reading that and who might be interested in seeing some recent work are getting that chance. http://www.mbgpics.com/Weddings/dianas-wedding-2nd-sooter-2009/9593712_xSmQq

and those who just stop by can get a chance to see some of my shots taken during this week's most needed R and R time.

this weekend i spent some time with my best of friends at a rockin' concert at Chautauqua auditorium in boulder. brandi carlile was intense, emotive and magical. we had a nice picnic spread, lots of wine and good company which all contributed to a fabulous evening.

although i do love my job as a photographer and all of the work associated with it-this week's blog is all about fun and a relaxing weekend with my best friends.

cheers and if you haven't checked out brandi's music--RUN out and buy her new cd coming out October 6th. http://www.brandicarlile.com/

time keeps on slippin slippin slippin....into the future.

every women can, no matter how many years have passed by, tell you in exact detail, their birth story or stories--or the stories that recall how they became a mom. in exact detail. becoming a mom is an honest and mighty journey for us all regardless of where it started. and it's a path which lingers in the darkness of fear, the celebration of light and life and the promise of tomorrow.

for me, time passes by so quickly lately that i find myself in shock at it. no doubt i remember the details of my first and second son's births as well as the stories of the past 5 years with them. i remember. i remember. but when i look at pictures of them lately i am so taken back by the swiftness of time. tears roll down my face as i look at these pictures taken this week on their first days of school. aaron in kindergarten and casey in preschool.

memories flood my mind and force the tears to roll down my face even faster. hope and excitement for the future with them helps to lessen the emotion a bit at times. but just a bit.

these are images of my babies frozen in time for just a moment as they begin their journey. thank you god for the gift of these children. every second with them is a privilege indeed.

bittersweet surrender

(sophie the skateboarder)

(daughter and son in law)

(mother and son)

(the family)

(mother and daughter)

(all of the kids)

i have had the pleasure and privileged of knowing my friend janet over the past few years. never before have i known a more giving, kind and spiritual person so well. she's taught me. and taught me. and teaches me still. somehow the simple words 'thank you' seemed way too generic to offer to her. so, i did what i do best, and offered to take some pics of her family.

janet is going through the most bittersweet of moments in life. BOTH (scratch that--all three of her children--as she has an amazing son in law too) are taking a huge step in life. a huge step away from their family. her lovely daughter and her sweet husband are packing up and moving to ohio. she is pursuing a masters/phd program and will be committing at least 5 years of their lives away from colorado. and away from janet. keep in mind that janet home schooled both of these children and, suffice it to say, they are both her best friends.

janet's son recently graduated from high school and has enlisted in the marine corp. after a family road trip across country to get his sister and hubby situated in ohio, he will be off to basic training camp and then off to some very new places.

janet's pain in palpable. her response to it is admirable. she is, most definitely, experiencing life's very bittersweet surrender.

you are loved janet. you have given these amazing children the most magical of experiences. they are blessed. you are blessed. and although they will be physically far away--they will always remain as close as they are today because of your immeasurable love.

i wanted to capture simple glances and simple stares. i wanted to freeze the emotion. to forever preserve the magic and mighty glances only a mother can give.
did i do it? well--you be the judge.
